Smiths Triumph are making their Isle of Man TT debut this year in the supersport TT races, the team is running TT winners Gary Johnson and Michael Rutter on factory backed 675 Daytona Triumph’s. The last time a factory backed Triumph team competed at the Isle of Man TT was back in 2003 when Valmoto ran Bruce Anstey, Jim Moodie and John Mcguinness, Bruce Anstey went onto famously win the junior race of TT 2003.
From an overall racing point of view Smiths Triumph are one of the best supersport teams in the world. Recently the team competed in the opening round of this years world supersport championship at Philip Island in Australia. Gary Johnson has being a TT winner in the supersport class and will be confident that the factory backed 675 Daytona Triumph will give him every chance of his second TT victory.
Michael Rutter won his first TT race back in 1998 in the junior TT race now known as the supersport TT races so the 4 time TT winner knows what it takes to win in the ultra competitive class of racing. In all its wonderful news to see Triumph back officially at TT 2014, its a great prospect for all road racing fans seeing Triumph back in an official capacity at the Isle of Man TT for the first time in 11 years.
