By I once stated that the TT is an oxymoron, establishment event, and anti-establishment event at the same time.
Do I feel the same after the recent protracted race week? Honestly, no, more-and-more establishment.
Walking through the TT paddock, you still sense the TT vibe, atmosphere, allure. Particularly this is apparent when it’s qualifying week not so much in my opinion, when racing begins.
The new look Parc Ferme, honestly my immediate reaction was, I’m not sure if I like this. Over the remainder of TT 2026, I grew used to its intrinsicses, it’s a lot different though to the previous set-up.
Every TT brings new challenges, for racers, teams, sponsors, marshals, organisers, fans, the media.
I noticed first-hand the number of journalists, photojournalists attending the TT, had dropped vividly. Certain matters witnessed close-up, don’t help this topic.
The TT organisers did roll out the red-carpet though for those involved with the new TT blockbuster film, VIPS, the chosen few.
The feedback from race fans on social media, regarding TT 2026, makes for interesting reading.
One could disregard plenty of the comments as needless moaning, negativity. Not all of them are though.
Legitimate points have been made by loyal, hardy TT supporters, that want the event to flourish, excel forever, regain its fun factor feel between races.
The phrase that always pops up into my mind, when thinking about the current TT set-up is depending on your situation, essentially ones own perspective on their own TT journey.
