One of a select few competitors from New Zealand to compete in the current decade at the Manx Grand Prix, Timaru’s David Lee is the next racer to take part in Road Racing News worldwide popular, ten questions challenge.
26th within the 2014 Newcomers A Manx Grand Prix, his answers to the popular series of questions are as follows:
Q1: Favourite National Roads Meeting?
“The Manx GP as it’s the only race outside New Zealand that I’ve competed in, here at home the Greymouth Street race is a good friendly race day!”
Q2: Favourite Racing Bike?
“My Triumph Daytona 675, light and agile and one of the best sounding engines around!”
Q3: What’s the best part of competing on the roads?
“The pure speed and adrenaline! Nothing else comes close!”
Q4: TT, North West 200 or Ulster Grand Prix?
“Grew up watching the TT on VHS so it’s the TT for me, love to race at them all one day!”
Q5: Most Respected Rival?
“Anyone who races deserves full respect, so much hard work goes into getting to the start line!”
Q6: Best roads moment thus far?
“My speed controlled lap at the Manx in 2014, to have finally got there and set off down Bray Hill for the first time was amazing. Getting a 110 mph lap in the Junior race was pretty special too!”
Q7: Is their one place or country in the world, where you would like to see a roads meeting held?
“Here in New Zealand would be perfect we have some great roads as we only have short street circuits at the moment, I’m going to race at the Cemetery Circuit on Boxing Day for the first time this year so can’t wait for that!”
Q8: Who’s your road racing hero?
“David Jefferies, watching him as a kid wrestle the V&M R1 Yamaha and the TAS GSXR 1000 Suzuki was awesome.”
Q9: Supersport or Superbike?
“I love my 675 but would jump a chance to have a go on a Superbike at the TT, the speed is amazing!”
Q10: Pole position or fastest lap?
“A pole would be pretty special but I think fastest lap would be more for me!”
