Sidecar Ten Questions Challenge – Alan Founds

Sidecar Ten Questions Challenge – Alan Founds

Fastest three wheeling Mountain Course newcomer of 2014, third within the second Sure Sidecar race of TT 2016, the highly respected Alan Founds is the next competitor to take part in Road Racing News, Sidecar equivalent of the popular ten questions challenge.

All set to compete again alongside Jake Lowther at TT 2018, his answers to the series of questions are as follows:

Q1: Favourite Roads Meet?

“It’s hard to beat the adrenaline rush that the TT delivers but in reality, its mentally and physically intense for the whole 2 weeks.

My favourite road race then is Gedinne in Belgium for it’s fun, laid back atmosphere and ace parties!”

Q2: Favourite Racing Engine?

“It has to be the Yamaha R6 thanks to Brian Gray Powerbiking in High Wycombe.”

Q3: Best roads moment thus far?

“Finishing in 3rd position in the 2016 TT, I was beat by brother Pete who finished 2nd but that last lap of racing, swapping places with him over the entire Mountain Course was epic!”

Q4: Out of the current roads meets, is their one event in particular where you would like to sidecars compete?

“I would love to see Sidecars competing at the North West 200 again. That would be amazing to race there!”

Q5: Most respected fellow driver?

“I have always respected my dad Des as a Sidecar racer. He somehow managed to race and raise 5 children (with the help of my Mum too) at the same time.”

Q6: Three Wheeling Hero?

“Dwight Beare has to be my all time hero in Sidecar racing. Anyone that moves to the opposite side of the world to chase their passion and dreams, will take some beating in my book!”

Q7: What’s the best part about competing on the roads?

“Definitely it’s the thrill of the roads courses. It’s as mentally challenging as it is physical and you don’t get that from short circuits.”

Q8: Three words to describe sidecar racing?

“Balls out, adrenaline.”

Q9: In your opinion, who is the greatest Sidecar TT racer of all time?

“Dave Molyneux for sure. To develop, race and win on your own chassis is impressive and there is no one who knows the TT course better!”

Q10: Pole position or fastest lap?

“Pole position, way more bragging rights!”
