Lee Johnston recorded a series of high quality results at the 2014 Scarborough gold cup. Opening David Jefferies trophy race saw Lee battling for lead throughout with Ivan Lintin. By the end of the eight lap race the rider competing on East Coast racing’s high spec CBR 600 Honda secured second place finish following a highly accomplished performance.

Second David Jefferies trophy race was next up and Lee was in determined mood to clinch his first win around Oliver’s Mount. After matching Ivan Lintin’s pace throughout on the final lap Lee went into race lead and from here held on to achieve a fine first win around the mount.
Plus the double super twins race winner at 2014 North West 200 was close to breaking the supersport lap record around Oliver’s Mount having produced lap time during the race of 1 minute 46.760 seconds. Next on the horizon for Lee was the feature race of the weekend the Steve Henshaw international gold cup.
Following an action packed start into mere hairpin on lap 1 Lee was quickly by lap two battling for top three placing. By lap five the 2013 TT privateers champion had moved into third place and from here maintained the same position to the finish by the end of the eight lap race.
Lee’s third place finish was also all the more hugely impressive given that he was only CBR 600 Honda mounted for the race. In all top three finish in gold cup feature race was an excellent way to round off a superb two days racing around Oliver’s Mount for a rider who without a doubt in the future has every chance of winning the Steve Henshaw international gold cup.
