2009 TT Zero race winner Rob Barber, has decided to take a break from competition at the TT Races.
Set to focus this year on the famous Pikes Peak Hill Climb in America, he is planning to return to the Mountain Course in August, for the growing in popularity, Classic TT Races.
Although himself not competing, his team PRB Racing team will be participating at TT 2017, with yet to be announced riders.
Commenting on this and his decision to miss TT 2017, Rob stated via his Facebook page:
“As I see lots of statements regards the TT I have my own.
Unfortunately, I did not put an entry in this year for a combination of reasons.
For the last two years I’ve had a hard time and not the results I was hoping for, plus I haven’t got over a crash I was exposed to last year.
I have also been invited back to Pike Peak with my awesome Ohio State Uni student team. I have absolutely loved working with this team and I think we have some unfinished business so I will be in the US during part of the TT.
My electric team is something I still feel very passionately about and something I love being involved in. I still love the TT and fully support the event.
We as PRB racing will still be at the event and will continue to support TT riders. Who and what will be announced soon.
I also intend on putting an entry into the classic TT but this is early days and I will fill people in closer to the time. I have to thank Paul Phillips and his team as they have been so helpful and supportive of my racing over the years.”
