The 2021 IRRC series has been dealt a major blow today, with the news that the ex Grand Prix Racing venue of Imatranajo won’t be hosting this year a round of Europe’s premier roads series, due to problems arising from the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Speaking via Imatranajo’s official website, Motorclub Imatra’s Sami Backman stated the following:
“We are all very disappointed that we have to postpone the event for the second year in a row.
In this situation however the health of the staff, riders, teams, our partners, visitors as well as the people of Imatra comes first. Luckily our contract with the IRRC organization allows us to move the event to next year.”
With Finland’s most acclaimed roads course dropping off the calendar, the 2021 IRRC season looks now set to begin in Belgium at Circuit De Chimay from the 23rd-25th July.
I’m sure teams, riders, event organisers, marshals, racing aficionados have everything crossed for all to go to plan and for IRRC action to commence in just over two months time.
