Isle of Man TT 2014 – Sidecar Races Preview

Theres an exciting line up for both sure sidecar TT races this year. Having won his first TT last year Tim Reeves is confident of a challenging for more wins competing for SMT racing, Gregory Cluze looks set to join Tim as passenger this year and combined they are set to make a formidable team.

Birchall brothers recorded their maiden TT triumph in 2013 and the supremely talented sidecar crew are once again competing for Klaus Klaffenbocks racing team backed by Cofain energy drink. The Birchall’s will start both sidecar TT races this year as one of the favourites for victories but the competition is high as every sidecar team goes for victory at the worlds greatest road race.

17 time TT winner Dave Molyneux is aiming for more wins this year with Patrick Farrance joining him in the DMR outfit backed by Elas and Keltruck. Two second place finishes last year proved that Moly still has the pace to run at the front and the determination to achieve more Isle of Man TT victories.

John Holden and Andrew Winkle sidecar TT race winners back in 2011 are looking forward to competing at TT 2014 on their Suzuki powered outfit. Both John and Andrew have being competing at Isle of Man TT for a long time and are always pushing for podium finishes and race wins as they will be in 2014.

Conrad Harrison has been on the podium many times in sidecar TT races including double podium finish at TT 2013 with Mike Aylott as passenger. Mike is teaming up with Conrad again this year as the Bradford driver aims for his first TT win which would without a doubt be one of the most popular wins at TT 2014.

Gary Bryan had two top six finishes at TT 2013 and the driver who is joined by Jamie Winn in GBM demolition backed outfit for this years sidecar TT races will be aiming for his first TT podium finish.

Returning to the Isle of Man TT for the first time since 2003 is three time TT winner Ian Bell. Ian was double winner in both sidecar races at Ian Watson spring cup road races and is greatly looking forward to returning to competing on the mountain course.

Joining Ian in Ian Bell motorcycles outfit is Ian’s son Carl Bell. Carl is making his TT debut this year as a passenger and has great experience in road racing having competed regularly at Oliver’s Mount and at Southern 100.

Nigel Connole is also returning to Isle of Man TT and the driver who has a good record Oliver’s Mount is optimistic for top results on his return to competing on mountain course. Vince Biggs secured a brilliant second place finish in sidecar TT race 2 back in 1997, Vince is back competing at Isle of Man TT for first time since 2000.

Dougie Wright and Martin Hull recorded a great 5th place finish last year and both driver and passenger firmly believe good results are on the cards when competing on Eddy Wright motorcycles backed outfit.

Rising sidecar road racing star Carl Fenwick has already being a top 10 finisher at Isle of Man TT and has being a race winner around Oliver’s Mount. Joining Carl in his teams outfit for TT 2014 is Phil Knapton, combined together they make for a great team and they could cause a surprise or two in both sidecar races.

Franck Lelias/Paul Knapton, Robert Handcock/Basil Bevan, Tony Baker/Fiona Baker-Milligan, Wayne Lockey/Mark Sayers, Gordon Shand/Phil Hyde and Greg Lambert/Kenny Cole are all capable of securing top results and personal best lap times.

Evergreen Roy Hanks joined by Kevin Perry as passenger this year is a sidecar TT legend, Roy one of the most popular competitors overall at Isle of Man TT is still more than capable of battling for good results at TT 2014.

Anthony Eades/Iain Greensmith are aiming for personal best lap times in this years sidecar TT races, the Green Ant racing team secured top five finishes at Oliver’s Mount during Ian Watson spring cup road races.

Leading newcomers are set to include Alan Founds/Tom Peters, John Lowther/Jake Lowther and newcomers from Australia Dwight Beare/Noel Beare.

Plus add in Michael Grabmuller, Karl Bennett, Mick Donovan, Dean Lindley, Mike Cookson, Dean Banks, Andy King and Darren Hope and the potential for top racing in both sidecar TT races this year is exceptional.
