Isle of Man TT 2013 – Supersport races preview
This year’s supersport TT races look like being as competitive as ever with up to at least 15 to 20 riders capable of taking wins and podium positions. One of the riders with big potential to win both supersport TT races this year is Michael Dunlop.
Michael who is this season competing on a PTR prepared Mcadoo racing Honda CBR 600 supersport bike has already being highly competitive on the bike which has included winning the second supersport race at this years North west 200.
The Padgetts racing team has recently acquired HM Plant sponsorship, the merging of two iconic bike racing companies has given Padgetts racing an added confidence boost ahead of this years Isle of Man TT.
Riding for the team once again is 9 times TT winner Bruce Anstey and 19 times TT winner John Mcguinness. Both Bruce and John will be competing in the supersport races on top spec Honda CBR 600 supersport bikes with of coure the aim being for both to win.
Most recently at the North west 200 John Mcguinness set the fastest time in qualifying in the supersport races whilst Bruce Anstey was also on form finishing second and fourth in the two supersport races. These results prove that the newly named HM Plant Honda by Padgetts motorcycles team are a force to be reckoned with in this years supersport TT races.
Suzuki’s entry into the supersport races is lead by the Tyco Suzuki by TAS team who are again for this years TT running Guy Martin. Guy has a good record in the supersport 600 class having taken many a podium finish at the TT including finishing a close runner-up to Ian Hutchinson in the opening supersport TT race of 2010.
Yamaha’s formidable R6 machine is considered one of the best supersport 600 bikes out there and the Milwaukee Yamaha team will be aiming to take full advantage of its potential in the two supersport TT races this year. Considered by many a supersport 600 specialist William Dunlop achieved in 2012 his first TT podium in the opening supersport race of TT 2012.
William who has won 600 races at the North west 200, Ulster grand prix and at the Scarborough gold cup is a rider who is more than capable on winning both supersport TT races in 2013. Team mate to William in the Milwaukee Yamaha team is Manxman Conor Cummins. Conor is sure to have all the local support at this years TT which is sure to help him in his quest to win his first TT races this year.
The Wilson Craig racing team in recent years has being one of the teams to beat in the supersport TT races and will be looking for their first ever TT win with Cameron Donald on-board the teams very rapid supersport 600 bike. Cameron in the supersport TT races last year achieved two runner-up positions and for 2013 will be looking to go one better to achieve his third TT win.
James Hillier is getting faster and faster at the Isle of Man TT and will be looking to continue his progress at the TT in this years supersport TT races. Competing on the Quattro Plant Kawasaki ZX-6 supersport bike James will be aiming for podium positions in both supersport races.
Iconic motorcycle manufacturer MV Augusta are back at this years Isle of Man TT to compete in the supersport races. Leading the Italian manufacturers entry is the Valmoto MV Augusta team which is managed by Jack Valentine whilst riding for the team is 2011 Isle of Man TT supersport race 2 winner, Gary Johnson.
Gary is a talented rider who having achieved his first ever podium at the recent North West 200 is going into the supersport TT races with confidence of achieving a top result.
