Hillier Remains With Rich Energy OMG Racing Squad, Set For Dakar Challenge

International roads newcomers Rich Energy OMG Racing have confirmed that 2013 Lightweight TT winner James Hillier, will form part of their 2021 racing plans.

Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic curtailing the bulk of the 2020 roads season, Ringwood’s Hillier was set to pilot YZF R6 Yamaha, S1000RR BMW machinery at the premier roads events in 2020 for the Rich Energy OMG squad.

Manx shores bound again next year for the prospective TT 2021 meeting, the 14 times TT podium finisher also has his sights set on sampling the world famous, gruelling Dakar Rally.

Not the first TT competitor to compete at the Dakar, Hillier is still set to create history in 2022 by being the first TT winner to take part in the endurance race that was first staged in 1979.

As with all pure road racers, not shy of taking on enterprising, fresh, exciting new challenges, there’s no doubt that should all go to plan, the former Lightweight TT Champ will give a good account of himself throughout the lengthy Dakar trek.

Returning to the topic of TT 2021, should that pesky Covid-19 subside enough and the right aspects fall into place, then thrilling Superbike race tussles are certain and will most definitely feature strongly the talents of the never to be underestimated Hillier.

Expect Hillier to also contend strongly again for Superstock, Supersport class honours, as he aims to enhance a TT podium finishes record which aforementioned currently stands at 14.
