Mountain Course stalwart George Spence is switching to YZF R1M Yamaha machinery for TT 2017, which marks 19 years since he competed for the first time at the Isle of Man TT.
A former podium finisher in the innovative TT Zero class, George’s lengthy TT resume includes 11th in the 1998 Singles TT and series of top 30 finishes in the blue riband Senior TT.
Nicknamed “Dod” he’s amongst Scotland’s most highly respected pure road racers.
Arguably most known at present for his exploits on electric bike machinery around the Mountain Course, in recent years he has wrapped many a very respectable result on a wide ranging array of Superstock, Supersport and Super Twin mounts.
It’s not known at present as to whether George will be participating in the Supersport and Lightweight races, at TT 2017.
Set to go testing at Almeria in Spain from the 19th to the 22nd of January, he is eagerly awaiting his opening track time on his new YZF R1M Yamaha stead.
Rapidly improving on the roads, the YZF R1M represents a fresh new challenge for the Scotsman, who is all set to participate for the 17th time at the TT Races.
