Derek Shiels is aiming to keep improving at the Isle of Man TT. Derek made his Manx grand prix debut in 2009 when competing on Triumph machinery Derek secured a second place finish in the newcomers A Manx grand prix race.
For this year Derek is competing in his first Isle of Man TT, some of the main aims for Derek are to keep learning the TT course, to get faster and to enjoy the experience of competing in the Isle of Man TT. During practice at the TT Derek lapped at a personal best speed of over 120 mph on the CD racing superstock bike.
At the Cookstown 100 road races Derek secured two third place finishes in the superbike races, plus at the Tandragee 100 road races Derek secured more top results which mean now that Derek is in the top 10 of the current standings for the Duke road race championship.
Derek Shiels is without a shadow of a doubt a naturally talented road racer who is just getting stronger and stronger with every road race that Derek competes in. In particular Derek is a rider to watch at this years Isle of Man TT where he is more than capable of securing a top result.
