Chris North Reflects On Pure Road Racing Debut At Oliver’s Mount

Chris North thoroughly enjoyed his pure road racing debut at the Barry Sheene Festival Powered by Suzuki, at Oliver’s Mount.

One of the main highlights of the meeting for the rider competing on his own teams YZF R6 Yamaha, was a highly respectable seventh place finish in the opening solo non qualifiers race.

Reflecting on his roads debut at Scarborough, an extremely happy Chris said:

“I had the best weekend of my life & would like to say, anyone thinking of having a go racing with the Auto66 club at Scarborough give it a go!

It really is an amazing circuit! With the introduction of the newcomers laps behind Roger Wibberley your given a chance to build your speed up on closed roads for the first time with no pressure put on you at all.

With only having the one bike & not really having a chance of qualifying in the top 22 (the cut off point for the 600 race) having little track time i’m over the moon with my lap times!!!

I’m hoping to enter all the race meetings at Scarborough next year to learn the circuit ready for when i make the step up to a modern 600 in the near future.

The first time I went to watch at Oliver’s Mount with my brother would be in 1993 & I can remember thinking I need to have a go at this one day!

Finally massive thanks to everyone that’s helped me get this far in racing & to all that came to support & help me out over the weekend! I couldn’t have done it without you all!”
