Birchall’s Secure Dazzling Third TT Victory

The second Sure sidecar race during TT 2015 proved to be one of the best sidecar races we’ve seen at the Isle of Man TT in the last ten years.

After a strong opening lap Ben Birchall and Tom Birchall lead Dave Molyneux/Benjamin Binns by 3.814 seconds, John Holden/Dan Sayle held third position as reigning sidecar TT championship winners Conrad Harrison/Mike Aylott occupied fourth position.

Lap two saw the pace at the front go up as the Birchall’s lapped at 116.451 mph in Manx Gas backed outfit as they opened up lead of 7.609 seconds over Dave Molyneux/Benjamin Binns who also where showing immensely fast pace lapping at 116.074 mph in A&J Groundworks backed DMR outfit.

Onto the final lap and despite the pressure mounting from Molyneux/Binns, Ben Birchall and Tom Birchall where keeping their cool as they got closer to their third race victory at TT Races.

Molyneux/Binns where giving it everything in pursuit of the Birchall’s on lap three but the recent TT 2015 sure sidecar race 1 winners where proving once again why they are rated so highly.

At the end of the final lap Ben Birchall/Tom Birchall crossed the line to record TT race victory number three.

They lapped at 116.783 mph to break Nick Crowe’s existing sidecar TT lap record.

But second place finishers by 7.584 seconds Dave Molyneux/Benjamin Binns went even better producing lap speed of 116.785 mph as they set a new lap record for sidecar’s around the mountain course, a truly sensational performance from the duo.

Completing the top three finishers was John Holden/Dan Sayle. The pairing who between them have nine TT victories produced a highly accomplished performance over the three laps to seal third place finish.

Conrad Harrison/Mike Aylott competing in Printing Roller Services outfit finished in fourth position following a top class display from the Sure sidecar TT race 1 winners from 2014.

Ian Bell/Carl Bell chalked up fine fifth place finish as they impressed hugely as did Matt Dix/Shaun Parker finishing in an excellent sixth place.

Wayne Lockey/Mark Sayers secured seventh place finish as Steve Ramsden/Matty Ramsden achieved brilliant eighth place finish.

Robert Handcock/Aki Aalto, Tony Baker/Fiona Baker Milligan finalised the top ten finishers during a thrilling Sure sidecar TT race two.

Further standout results included Carl Cox Motorsport’s Colin Buckley/Robbie Shorter finishing in 11th position, Roy Hanks/Kevin Perry finished a highly respectable 16th and Brian Alflatt/Aaron Galligan recorded 23rd place finish.

A truly memorable sidecar race at TT Races and one that provided the Birchall brothers with their third TT victory plus a new lap record was set by Dave Molyneux/Benjamin Binns with dazzling lap speed of 116.785 mph.
