19 times International Road Race winner Guy Martin, is set to step back into the closed roads scene next month, sampling the yesteryear Classic races at Cookstown on his in house prepared, built Rocket Three BSA.
Always keen to take on enterprising new challenges, the eight times Steve Henshaw International Gold Cup champion whilst not considered by some a yesteryear class specialist, has proven on multiple occasions over recent times, that he’s not to be underestimated.
At a glance his Cookstown 100 CV includes Grand Final success in 2015, plus at the same meeting winning a quite compelling opening Superbike encounter, edging out 18 times TT winner Michael Dunlop.
It’s quite tremendous news for meeting organisers Cookstown & District Motorcycle Club, to have Martin’s name on the entry list for the opening Irish roads event of 2019.
Certain to provide the respected, popular, prestigious meeting with strong publicity, it’s fair to say the 2007 Senior TT runner up’s fan base over the past ten years, has exploded since appearing on a number of prominent TV shows including Speed with Guy Martin, plus his adventures to countries such as India, China, Russia and Latvia.
Although since TT 2017, largely outside the pure road racing fraternity, you don’t lose talent overnight and it wouldn’t at all be surprising to see him bank strong results in April, on the newly resurfaced Orritor course.
