By An abundance of category lap-records fell throughout Friday, Saturday’s history-making Bear Competitions Cookstown 100 action, Classic Superbike (Darryl Tweed), Supersport 300 (Lee Osprey), Supersport (Paul Jordan) and 1000cc, outright to Michael Dunlop MBE.
Dunlop MBE (1.22.047) registering the first 92-mph C100 lap (92.142 mph), shaved 0.330 off the Orritor Circuit lap-record he has held since 2013.
Invitation, Open (A), Grand Final races runner-up Michael Sweeney, set a new PB event lap time of 1.22.827 seconds.
Four more competitors lapped inside 1.24 seconds, Marcus Simpson (1.23.562), Darryl Tweed (1.23.667), Kevin Keyes (1.23.708) and new Supersport record time holder, Paul Jordan (1.23.927).
Fastest C100 newcomer was Parker Car Transport Racing’s Don Gilbert (1.25.677) whilst top non-UK/IOM/Irish racer honours went to Smith Racing’s Julian Trummer (1.25.523).
Twenty-one racers in total recorded lap times below 1 minute 30 seconds.
