Both James Chawke and Liam Chawke, left the Bear Competitions Cookstown 100 upbeat post obtaining first-rate, highly reputable results.
Eva Mullen Takes up the story about the Rathkeale brothers:
Liam (Chawke) opened his C100 racing stint in solid style, working his way to eighteenth in the Open (A) Invitational race, on route setting a best lap of 1.33.08 seconds (81.220 mph).
He went onto show clear progress within the Supersport (A) race, increasing his best lap speed to 82.676 mph although middleweight category action ended in unfortunate fashion, via a false neutral sending him into the Orritor hedge – from which he fortunately emerged unscathed.
The Super Twins race would see Liam continue the upward trajectory, this time on the KMR Kawasaki, lapping sub 1.33 seconds (1.32.73 – 81.523 mph), securing ninth place, underlining a weekend of steady development.
For elder sibling James, there was great-results-throughout.
Firstly, P8 in the afore-mentioned Open (A) Invitational race with a No.1 lap of 1.26.91 (86.987 mph).
A stellar run to the Super Twins (A) race podium followed. After qualifying sixth, he battled to a final finishing position of third (encounter best lap time – 1.30.71 – 83.342 mph), giving suitors RL Racing their first Cookstown rostrum.
Top six finishes in both the Open (A) race and feature race contest would follow, posting best laps of 1.25.44 and 1.25.45, averaging around 88.4 mph, maintaining strong, consistent pace under pressure.
Overall, the weekend showed Liam’s continued progress and growing confidence, while James combined speed and consistency to secure a podium and multiple top six finishes. Attention now turns to the Northwest 200.
