Sixth, eighth within the Super Twin encounters from the 2017 Cock O’The North Road Races, Brigg’s Sam Johnson who’s planning to return to Scarborough shores this year, is the next racer to take part in Road Racing News growing in popularity, Oliver’s Mount Top 8 series.
Johnson who’s set to compete this year under his own teams FR Racing banner, answers to the Scarborough themed set of questions are as follows:
Q1: First memory of Oliver’s Mount?
“Being 12/13 watching Ian Lougher on the Lloyds sponsored 125, and Guy (Martin) on his own backed machine taking wins/watching at Jefferies jump.”
Q2: Favourite part about racing at the mount?
“Its a technical, narrow circuit and proper riders circuit. Requires good bike control, accuracy.”
Q3: Favourite section of Scarborough course?
“Favourite section is probably the jumps, or from the Monument down to the jumps, that whole section.”
Q4: Best moment thus far at Scarborough?
“Probably racing the Super Twin at the 2017 Cock O’The North, gaining a decent result on the Saturday, battling with Boasty (Peter Boast) and Julian (Tillotson), was a good fun race.”
Q5: All time Scarborough racing hero?
“Guy (Martin) or David Jefferies for his style.”
Q6: Is there one machine in particular that you would like to race at Scarborough?
“250 two stroke or a Classic 500.”
Q7: One word to describe Oliver’s Mount?
“Narrow”
Q8: Most respected racing rival at Scarborough?
“Everyone. Any road racer that takes on any road course gets my respect.”
