Wanganui Road Races Preview

The Wanganui road races first began in 1951 and have since become known as one of the most famous road races in New Zealand. This years event has attracted a top quality entry list that includes competing for only the second time at the Wanganui road races, Guy Martin. Guy is competing on a Suzuki New Zealand backed superbike in both superbike races. Despite having only competed once at Wanganui, Guy will still start as one of the favourites for victory on boxing day.

Winner of the feature race in 2012, Nick Cole is back this year competing on a ZX10 Kawasaki, course specialist Sloan Frost is competing on a GSXR 1000 Suzuki as is Hayden Fitzgerald who has competed at the Manx Grand Prix achieving a top 10 finish. International road racing championship competitor Steve Mizera is competing at this years Wanganui road races on a SR1000 BMW and is confident of recording top results.

Ashley Payne is aiming to make his Isle of Man TT debut next year and will start as one of the favourites in the supersport races at Wanganui when competing on a GSXR 600 Suzuki. Runner in the supersport championship in this years International road racing championship Thomas Kreutz is competing on a R6 Yamaha in both supersport races.

The Wanganui road races has seen over the years many a famous rider win the feature race this includes Pat Hennen, Robert Holden and Dave Hiscock, its set to be a great day of racing on boxing day at Wanganui.
