Cookstown BE Racing’s Derek Sheils chalked up pole position, for the Open and Grand Final races at Walderstown, as he continued his Superbike dominance within the Irish national roads scene.
Derek’s time of 1 minute 08.021 seconds, was in excess of 0.6 quicker than nearest pursuer Derek McGee, who in turn was just over half a second clear of William Dunlop on the Temple Golf Club limited backed YZF R1M Yamaha.
Next up on the time sheets was Martin Jones Racing’s Michael Sweeney, then it was Brian McCormack and Graham Kennedy evenly matched in finishing fifth and sixth fastest.
Paul Jordan secured seventh in qualifying, whilst former Irish road race Senior Support champion Kevin Fitzpatrick eighth quickest, was only 0.005 of a second quicker than ultra impressive Walderstown debutant, Davey Todd.
Additional notable performances included Andy Farrell 10th fastest in front of fellow roads stalwart Michael Weldon.
