Joey Dunlop’s iconic RC45 Honda, which he took a momentous Superbike success, at the Ulster Grand Prix in 1999 will be demoed at the Faugheen 50 Road Races by Irish road race front runners Derek McGee and Derek Sheils.
Reigning Irish road race champion Sheils, stated about the opportunity to pilot his childhood hero’s machine, via his Facebook page:
“It’s not everyday you get asked if you want to ride your childhood hero’s bike. What an honour to have a run on Joey Dunlop’s iconic RC45 at the Faugheen 50 road races.
Huge thanks to Gary Dunlop for the opportunity..!”

As Derek states, this momentous occasion has been made possible by Gary Dunlop, who has said that the two Derek’s are having sleepless nights just thinking of sitting on that seat.
This is an absolute must see for all fans embarking upon Faugheen, to witness one of Joey Dunlop’s most iconic steeds returning to a real roads venue.
Reminder the 2017 Faugheen 50 Road Races, take place from the 22nd to the 23rd of July.
