Ten Questions Challenge – Dave Sellers

Fifth within the Junior, Senior races of the 2015 Manx Grand Prix, 19th in the following years Pokerstars Senior TT, Skegness Dave Sellers is the next racer to take part in Road Racing News, ten questions challenge.

Nicknamed ‘Salty’ his answers to the popular series of questions, are as follows:

Q1: Favourite National Roads Meeting?

“I have only ever raced at the TT so would have to be there, I had many plans to race the North West 200, the Ulster GP and Southern 100 but it just never happened and I hung up my Leathers.”

Q2: Favourite Racing Bike?

“Hard question that one I love my trusty Triumph 675, it’s going IN the front room now it’s retired still with the flies on from 2016, but my ZX10 Kawasaki from 2016 was amazing, oh and my Chris Hughes Racing Honda 500 was so much fun.”

Q3: What’s the best part of competing on the roads?

“The camaraderie how everyone respects each other on and of the track, before you head down Bray Hill you see your mates have a hand shake or hug and you know your both thinking the same thing. It’s mega the highs are high the lows are very very low, the paddock is like a big family.”

Q4: TT, North West 200 or Ulster Grand Prix?

“Only done the TT, so it’s got to be that.”

Q5: Most Respected Rival?

“I got friendly with Micko Sweeney in 2016 and I would say him, it was good friendly banter I enjoyed our time on track you knew he would be clean and smiling at the end.”

Q6: Best roads moment thus far?

“This is a easy one, newcomer at the 2014 Manx GP 3 abreast over Ballacrye not sure who the lad in the middle was, but me and Davey (Lambo) Lambert was either side of him.

Me and Lambo continued onto Sulby straight side by side looking at each other with it flat in top, we were both shaking our heads laughing our heads off, and that’s how I became friends with the big man Lambo. RIP Lambo the guy was a legend.”

Q7: Is their one place or country in the world, where you would like to see a roads meeting held?

“There are some ace roads in Lincolnshire, when there isn’t massive holes in them.”

Q8: Who’s your road racing hero?

“Can I have 2, Dave Madsen Mygdal the guy is like a dad to me over there (Isle of Man), I have learnt so much from him he really took me under his wing from my first year, and been there for me ever since.

Plus Billy Redmayne, balls as big as houses, I asked him how he won the Newcomers Manx in 2014 and his reply was, I just thought f**k it I’m either winning or I’m going down.”

Q9: Supersport or Superbike?

“Superbike”

Q10: Pole position or fastest lap?

“Fastest lap every time.”
