Winner of the 2016 Junior Manx Grand Prix, 15th in the opening Monster Energy Supersport race of TT 2017, plus an extremely talented rally driver, Ramsey’s Andy Dudgeon is the next racer to take part in Road Racing News, ten questions challenge.
Set to pilot S1000RR BMW machinery for Slick Performance Racing in the 1000cc races at TT 2018, his answers to the popular series of questions are as follows:
Q1: Favourite National Roads Meeting?
“Classic TT, I get to ride a classic bike round best track in the world with very little pressure. 2017 was my first year on a classic bike round the Mountain Course, Rob Brew’s ZXR 750. What a pleasure.”
Q2: Favourite Racing Bike?
“Honda RC213V-S, never ridden one but it looks sensational and it’s got an almighty bark! Bruce Anstey seems to go well on it too.”
Q3: What’s the best part of competing on the roads?
“As soon as the visor is down and I launch off the line, i’m in control of the most exhilarating experience known to man!”
Q4: TT, North West 200 or Ulster Grand Prix?
“TT, as race tracks go, I don’t think they can get any better! Though I haven’t yet raced at the North West 200 or Ulster GP yet, hoping to be a newcomer to both this year.”
Q5: Most Respected Rival?
“Michael Dunlop, he’s quite handy on a bike round the TT course. In 2016 Manx GP practice he scrapped his Superbike classic lap to tow me round for a lap, big eye opener.
Plus like myself, he’s the only other TT racer that I know of that takes part in rallies, however in this discipline I have beaten him on a few stages but this may have been because I had two extra differentials, and a turbo charger.”
Q6: Best roads moment thus far?
“2016 Manx Grand Prix Junior race win, battling great rival Tom Weeden. I won by just 3 seconds.”
Q7: Is their one place or country in the world, where you would like to see a roads meeting held?
“Nurburgring, Looks like an amazing track. I have done many practice laps on the Xbox would fancy racing there. A road trip is on the cards soon!”
Q8: Who’s your road racing hero?
“Joey Dunlop, I met him when I was a kid and little did I know then I would be a racer too, a true legend of the sport.”
Q9: Supersport or Superbike?
“Supersport, I know that bike very well. Superbike on the other hand is like, your on a hot date and going at it like a sewing machine then you call her the wrong name, not always fun.”
Q10: Pole position or fastest lap?
“Pole position, then win the race, who cares if you get fastest lap or not.”
