In light of the widely reported news that Norton will be involved in a new tie-up with two wheel Indian company TVS, Smiths Racing have reaffirmed their commitment to running the Superlight Norton model at the TT Races.
As proposed for TT 2020, TT 2021 is set to see Mountain Course lap record holder Peter Hickman at the reigns of the Superlight steed for the four lap Lightweight race.
Eight in last June’s Bennetts Lightweight encounter, there’s no doubt that if everything clicks into place, the sweet spot is gained, International roads maestro, BSB showdown regular Hickman is certain to have a prime chance of bringing the iconic Norton brand back into the TT rostrum finishers circle.
Speaking of Norton’s TT record, it’s one that matches, surpasses countless motorcycling giants.
94 times race winners, they stand fourth on the all time TT winners list plus have overall 323 rostrum finishes to their credit just three shy of Suzuki’s total.
Yes we all know what’s gone on in recent times and one truly hopes the desired outcomes for those affected will happen.
The Norton name though despite all what’s happened, remains one of biking’s most famous brands and one that will always be associated with tumultuous feats on the fabled, mythical Mountain Course.
