My first thoughts after reading Marta Covioli, Diego Mola’s maiden publication, Road To Racing, is that it’s a book which gives all road racers not just the front running stars, but also the unsung heroes, leading independents, top female racers all good coverage.
The 160 page book takes you on a journey through seven roads meetings, beginning with the opening Irish national meets of 2017 the Tandragee 100 and Cookstown 100, before focusing upon the North West 200 and TT Races.
Attention then moves to Armoy, before concluding with chapters on the Ulster Grand Prix and Macau Grand Prix.

In amongst each chapter, there’s fascinating quotes from the likes of Michael Dunlop, Peter Hickman, Dan Kneen, Michael Rutter and Bruce Anstey, each speaking about different perspectives on road racing.
Authored by leading roads journalist Marta Covioli, you can tell how much the sport means to her.
Same applies to photographer Diego Mola, who’s mix of atmospheric, racing and paddock pictures blend superbly with author Covioli’s enthusiastic, factual and in depth writing.
Thanks in particular to individuals like Diego and Marta, the popularity of road racing in Italy is growing and growing.
Road To Racing which in my opinion in it’s own right, is a work of art, like certain photo exhibitions, documentaries, can only help to increase the exposure of the most exciting form of motorsport, on planet earth.
