Low temperatures up to 10 degrees but luckily no rain (almost!) for yesterday, Saturday’s racing around the ex-Moto GP circuit Brno, which hosted the traditional opening road racer’s adventure in the Czech Republic. As usual for the Spring Prize event, it was a mix of real road racers and automotodrom specialists. Sprint races were held on Saturday and on Sunday longer distance races took place.
Supersport races wise, multiple IRRC Champion, Czech road racing legend Marek Cerveny wrapped up podium finishes (2nd x2). Added very fast, well-known names in this category racing were Team Schleizer Dreieck’s Gary Johnson (5th Supersport Race 2) and Sebastian Frotscher.
They were supplemented for example by fellow IRRC participant Lukas Vaclavovic and Czech roads aces like Karel Brandtner, Matous Ondrusz, Ales Sykora, Martin Hulin, Petr Vajner Jr. and Matej Vit.
The yesteryear classic, Ultra Lightweight 125, 250cc, classes contained road race regulars such as the UK’s James Walker, holders of many victories from Horice, Patrik Kolar and Oldrich Podlipny followed by respected German roads scene pilot, Chris Meyer.
Winner of Sunday’s Superbike race was Michal Prasek, second fastest rider in Dymokury Road Races racing history. Second was Jiri Broz, three times Supersport 300 Curves of Gustav Havel winner and member of the Horice sub 2.20 lap-time club.
Superbike races finishers Tomas Borovka and Leos Hlavacek are also members of this select group of riders same as high profile entrant, multiple IRRC champion Didier Grams.
The Superbike start-list additionally featured IRRC Czech, Slovakian participants Jakub Sprojcar, Rene Mlkvy, and Emil Krchnavy.
Super Twin/Supermono Sunday race victory went to Marek Cerveny, and he was joined on the podium by fellow Czech IRRC hero Petr Najman and Ales Sykora, former mechanic of Michal ‘Indi’ Dokoupil. 2024 Isle of Man TT participant Veronika Hankocyova also started this race.
International Sidecar Trophy wise, victory honours were swooped by experienced German TT racer Mike Roscher.
The three-wheeling start-list contained as well, another proficient Mountain Course exponent, Austrian Michael Grabmuller and Hengelo, Chimay podium finisher, Hilbert Talens.
This year’s first road race in the Czech Republic, will take place early next month (4th-5th May) at Stare Mesto (Old Town races).
Main star newcomer at Stare Mesto is Macau GP rostrum finisher, Germany’s quickest TT rider, Horice and Dymokury lap record holder David Datzer!
