Nev Jones Racing Sidecar Team are delighted to announce that they have secured support from Lincoln Refrigeration to contest the 2014 road racing season, after a 5 year absence from the sport.
The Gainsborough-based team’s focus will be the Isle of Man TT races, where their best previous finish was a 12th place. An off-season switch to the Suzuki GSXR600 power plant should allow the team to improve on their previous best lap times of 106mph, and the team are confident that 109-110mph lap times should allow them to break into the top 10. Joining the team as passenger for that, and other pure road events, will be Knaresborough’s Dean Kilkenny, a newcomer to the infamous TT circuit.
Both have previously contested events at Scarboroughs’ Olivers’ Mount, and their combined experience should help the team achieve some good results at the Yorkshire road venue in 2014.
A debut appearance at the Southern 100 meeting at the Isle of Man’s Billown road circuit is also on the calendar for the duo.
Taking Dean’s place in the chair for the ACU/FSRA F2 National Sidecar Championship will be Louth teenager, Joe Gaunt. The team are looking forward to Joe’s youthful exuberance rubbing off on veteran driver Nev Jones, and the team will be looking to improve on previous results which have included several podium finishes and 3 consecutive 7th place in the National championship standings from 2004-06.
