Plenty have said it for years why hasn’t John McGuinness gained an MBE for his achievements in International road racing.
This topic is now closed thanks to the announcement that the 23 times TT winner has been included amongst the MBE award recipients from the Queen’s New Year’s honours list.
When you look at the Morecambe racer’s achievements in great detail, it’s easy to see why many regard him as one of the leading pure road racers of his generation.
Alongside the aforementioned TT victories, McGuinness has also claimed multiple North West 200, Ulster Grand Prix victories, recorded Steve Henshaw International Gold Cup, Macau Grand Prix triumphs.
Taken a hat trick of Senior Classic TT wins, Seven Senior TT successes, secured 47 TT podium finishes and overall 33 International road race triumphs.
Whilst 1000cc TT victories have been tougher to come by since his record breaking Senior TT success in 2015, he remains a true modern day master of the fabled, mythical Mountain Course.
He’s stated on multiple occasions that he’s already an MBE (a motorbike expert!), well now he really is an MBE!
