Kawasaki Mainstay Saiger To Tackle Different Machinery At Internationals In 2018

TT Privateers champion Horst Saiger is set to tackle different machinery at the North West 200, TT and Macau Grand Prix in 2018, as the popular racer concludes a successful seven year partnership with Kawasaki.

Since 2011 aboard the ‘Team Green’ machines, he’s established himself as arguably continental Europe’s leading exponent of the premier international road races.

His most recent roads campaign has seen collect a whole host of top draw results, which included third in the Superbike Classic TT, another feature race success at Terlicko and of course becoming the first overseas winner of the TT Privateers championship.

Reflecting on his time piloting Kawasaki’s various incarnations of the ZX10 and ZX6R models, he stated:

“I owe a lot to Kawasaki. Already in the first two years of competing for them in 2011 and 2012 I was able to win the Swiss Superstock 1000 Championship on the Kawasaki ZX-10R.

The high reliability and serial competitiveness of the Ninja’s was clearly the key to success and was only then financeable. I would like to thank Kawasaki and, above all, Kawasaki Switzerland for their trust and their very loyal support, it was an honour to sit on the green super athletes.”

Looking ahead to new challenges next year, the ever cheerful Austrian who’s a former Superstock North West 200 lap record holder, said:

“There’s no way I’m going to hang up my helmet for now, as I’m still too young. There’s an exciting season in front of me and news on that will be released soon. Only thing I can tell you for now: I am more motivated!”
