Twenty-five years since his untimely passing, Joey Dunlop’s unparalleled road racing career is to be celebrated in style on the 24th of May, with a free to attend event dubbed ‘Joey 25’ held in Ballymoney, Northern Ireland.
Held in conjunction with the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, ‘Joey 25’ will feature the biggest ever collection of bikes raced by the great man, a parade lap around Ballymoney, bring together an abundance of motorcycle racing stars.
Disclosed, confirmed attendees include six-times World Superbike Champion Jonathan Rea, four times WSB Champion Carl Fogarty, Northwest 200 Superbike wins record-holder Glenn Irwin, Brian Reid, eleven times TT winner Phillip McCallen.
Twelve times TT winner, New Zealand legend Bruce Anstey, Michael Rutter, Ryan Farquhar, Ray McCullough, Adrian Archibald.
Ian Simpson, Alan Irwin, James Courtney, Steve Cull, all-time NW200 wins record-holder Alastair Seeley, Eugene Laverty and the Haslam’s Ron & Leon.
Commenting about the ‘Joey 25’ celebration, Linda Dunlop said:
“We couldn’t imagine a better way to remember Joey than with an event in his hometown.
This milestone anniversary is a poignant time for our family, and we’re deeply grateful to the local council for organising this event.
Seeing so many of Joey’s original bikes displayed and ridden through the town is truly special.”
