Closing in on three years since his last meeting tenure, Switzerland’s swiftest Mountain Course participant, 2023 IRRC Superbike Champion Lukas Maurer, will return to TT Races competition in May.
Maurer the fastest solo TT newcomer in 2019, second TT tilt in 2022, proved challenging with just one finish from three race starts.
Despite this fact, he ended race week productively, chalking up in the Senior race a new personal best finish of twenty third.
Kawasaki powered for his previous two TT endeavours, his event comeback will see him Yamaha mounted, riding his own squads’ GYTR (Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing) R1.
Not new to Yamaha apparatus, last season he led the R1 charge at IRRC events, going onto finish second to David Datzer in the final IRRC SBK Championship standings.
Number one in terms of top five finishes from IRRC outings last year (12 top five finishes), he’s had to buy a new R1 for this season, following technical gremlins within the 2024 IRRC season finale at Frohburg.
In addition to the TT Races, Maurer has confirmed that he and his new Yamaha will be venturing again to the Briggs Equipment Northwest 200, where he will look to build upon previous accomplished Triangle course performances.
