The opening sidecar TT race of this years Isle of Man TT started in near perfect conditions all around the TT course. At Glen Helen on lap 1 it was the Birchall brothers Ben & Tom who held a slight lead over Tim Reeves, John Holden and Dave Molyneux. Half way through lap 1 and the Birchall’s still lead but then a puncture stopped their charge at the front and they where forced into an early retirement.
This promoted Tim Reeves and Dan Sayle into first place on the SMT racing sidecar outfit. Up into second place was Dave Molyneux whilst Conrad Harrison held third place just in front of John Holden who held fourth place. At the end of lap 1 Reeves and Sayle had a lead of over 10 seconds over Molyneux and Farrance, Conrad Harrison and Mike Aylott held third place, John Holden completed the top 4 at the end of lap 2.
Onto lap 2 and Tim Reeves continued to lead at the front increasing his advantage over Dave Molyneux to around 15 seconds as the second lap of the race reached halfway point. Conrad Harrison still occupied third place in front of John Holden whilst Dougie Wright and Gary Bryan where going well.
By Ramsey on lap 2 the lead at the front kept increasing and increasing as Reeves determined to win his first ever TT race showed superb speed as lap 2 came to a close. Tim Reeves had around a 18 second lead as lap 2 of the opening sidecar TT race of 2013 finished. Dave Molyneux was still in second place whilst Conrad Harrison continued to lap consistently fast whilst holding third place.
Lap 3 and by Glen Helen, Reeves had a lead of over 23 seconds over Dave Molyneux in second place, Conrad Harrison was beginning to reel Molyneux in for second place as Molyneux and Reeves battled over track position.
As lap 3 went on Reeves continued to lead but the battle that everyone began to watch out on the TT course was the one between Molyneux and Harrison who where getting closer and closer as the battle for second place was reaching boiling point.
When lap 3 finished it brought Tim Reeves his first sidecar TT win. Having made his TT debut in 2008 Tim has since being aiming to achieve a lifetimes ambition to win a TT race. Conrad Harrison came home in a fantastic second place on the Printing Roller services racing sidecar outfit.
Dave Molyneux finished in third place in front of fourth placed John Holden. Dougie Wright came home in a superb 5th place on the Eddie Wright motorcycles sidecar outfit whilst Gary Bryan, Gary Knight, Karl Bennett, Robert Handcock and Franck Lelias completed the top 10. Overall a top opening sidecar race for TT 2013 and one that will be remembered as a race that saw Tim Reeves finally win a sidecar TT race.
