Jorn Hamberg’s dream start to the 2022 IRRC Supersport Championship, continued via a commanding performance in this afternoon’s middleweight class encounter at Hengelo.
Supersport class returnee Marek Cerveny got the better of Hamberg during opening laps before the rising Dutch talent sped to the front on lap three.
There was no stopping Hamberg from here, who went onto take race spoils by just over two seconds.
A last lap surge from Performance Racing Achterhoek team-mate Ilja Caljouw, yielded a second-place finish ahead of 23 times IRRC race winner Cerveny.
Cerveny’s fellow Countryman Petr Najman quietly impressed on route to fourth, same could be said for respective fifth, sixth place finishers Xavier Denis and Christian Schmitz.
Romain Cleaz Savoyen finished seventh, Sebastian Frotscher took eighth, Kevin Rigot was ninth as Welshman Mark Purslow claimed the final place in the top ten.
The IRRC Supersport fields’ attentions now turn towards Finland’s most famous race circuit, Imatranajo.
New two times IRRC race winner Hamberg, goes into Imatranajo competition, holding an early 14-point Championship lead over Wepol Racing’s Cerveny.
