IRRC Hengelo: Lonbois, Datzer The SBK Pace Setters Again

Vincent Lonbois took his tally of IRRC victories to 13, after emerging first home from another intriguing Varsselring Superbike race stint.

As in the previous 1000cc encounter, Mototech Yamaha mounted Lonbois was embroiled in a tight, evenly contested tussle with MTP Racing’s David Datzer.

Separated by only 0.241 at the end of lap three, just 0.336 separated them as lap seven beckoned.

Across laps seven, eight new Varsselring lap record holder Lonbois began to steadily gain a grip on the race, keeping at bay the attentions of 2021 Road Racing News Road Racer of The Year Datzer.

The ninth, final lap would see Lonbois sped past the chequered flag, almost four seconds ahead of Datzer, who’s pace dipped a touch.

Joining Lonbois, Datzer on the IRRC Superbike race two rostrum was leading Dutch pilot Davy Thoonen.

Pole sitter Lukas Maurer placed fourth, Performance Racing Achterhoek’s Virgil Amber Bloemhard bagged fifth as Joey Den Besten, Didier Grams, Eddy Ferre, Thijs Peeters, Penz 13 BMW’s Erno Kostamo wrapped up the top ten finishers.
