Marek Cerveny took a decisive step towards an unprecedented fifth IRRC Supersport title, following this morning’s Frohburg middleweight class race opener.
Cerveny astride WRP Wepol Racing Parts Triumph apparatus, 32nd IRRC race victory was anything but straight forward with him taking full advantage of misfortune for early stages P1 occupants Jef Van Calster and Adam McLean.
56 plate-holder, Performance Racing Achterhoek’s McLean, the race pole-sitter, led after opening lap action but then struck technical problems on lap two.
His poor dose of luck, allied to Cerveny scooping 25 points, leaves him eighteen points adrift heading into this afternoon’s season finale.
With event wildcard Van Calster also retiring (race retirement – lap five), it was left to Petr Najman to give chase to Cerveny for the remainder of Supersport Race One proceedings.
At the races’ close, 7.831 seconds covered the Czech roads giants with Ilja Caljouw third, 4.856 seconds further behind.
Rounding out the first six finishers were Romain Cleaz Savoyen, Michal Prasek and Virgil Amber Bloemhard.
Darryl Tweed obtained a very creditable seventh place finish, Rico Vetter scooped eighth, Rhys Hardisty banked ninth.
Sebastian Frotscher concluded the race leader-board first ten whilst finishes eleventh to fifteenth were gained by Mauro Poncini, Thomas Wendel, event wildcard David Brook, Hannes Engl and Nicolas Therouin.
