First and foremost, congratulations to Josh Herrin on becoming the first racer in history to win three consecutive Daytona 200’s.
Upping his Daytona 200 wins total to four, Herrin is now only below ‘Mr Daytona’ Scott Russell in the all-time event victors list.
Onto the International Road racers competing and more bad luck thwarted five times Northwest 200 winner Richard Cooper’s podium finishing aspirations, retiring on lap 35 via technical gremlins when jousting amongst the race leading pack.
PHR (Peter Hickman Racing) Performance, factory Triumph team-mate Peter Hickman had more tumultuous fortunes, finishing an impressive fourth, best UK competitor.
Five places behind Hickman, was TT wins record-holder Michael Dunlop, who during the race’s first start, before stoppage due to rain, briefly set the race’s fastest lap.
‘Maverick’ armed with Milwaukee backed V2 Panigale Ducati metal, ended the 57-lap contest with a best lap time of 1 minute 49.817 seconds.
2018 TT Privateers Championship runner-up Sam West placed a very respectable 18th whilst America’s fourth fastest TT rider Chris Sarbora finished 25th one position adrift of 2018 IRRC Superbike Champion, Team Classic Suzuki’s Danny Webb.
