Reminding everyone of his top draw ability on roads circuits, Lukas Maurer splashed to back-to-back Hengelo BeNeLux Trophy-BK Superbike/ESR race successes.
In unpleasant wet all-round conditions, Swiss ace Maurer jockeying his own outfits YZF R1M Yamaha, emerged at the race’s optimisation, 5.45 seconds + in front of Yan Ancia.
Uniquely the top six finishers, finished in the same order as from this morning’s 1000cc competition burst, 1st Maurer, 2nd Ancia, 3rd Sander Claessen, 4th Thijs Peeters, 5th Mike Parmentier, 6th, once again leading home the permanent ESR riders’ fraternity, Laurent Hoffmann.
Poignantly once the race ended, all the finishers (twenty overall) stopped on the start-line with a banner held up near them (held by afore-mentioned Laurent Hoffmann), stating ‘end of an era,’ recognising that this is the last time Superstock 1000/Superbikes will take to the Netherlands only active real roads venue, the Varsselring.
