Receiving a timely sponsorship boost ahead of hosting the fourth Irish roads meeting of 2018, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council are confirmed to provide title backing for the newly reincarnated Enniskillen Road Races.
Returning to the roads calendar for the first time in 66 years, the council sponsorship news adds to the growing excitement ahead of competition at a new roads course, that has been described by many racers as looking extremely quick, technical plus fast and flowing.
Racers already confirmed to tackle the three miles long Enniskillen course include Lightweight TT runner up Derek McGee, local favourite Melissa Kennedy and second quickest newcomer in TT history, Cookstown BE Racing’s highly rated Davey Todd.

Added leading teams set to compete include the multi international road race winning McAdoo Kawasaki outfit, and the Joeys Bar MCC team.
Commenting recently about providing lead sponsorship for the first Enniskillen roads meet in 66 years, Chairman Councillor of the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Howard Thornton stated:
“The Council is delighted to be working in partnership with Enniskillen and District Motorcycle Club on this event which has the capacity to attract significant numbers of visitors to the area over the course of the weekend.
The event also provides us with the opportunity to showcase the district to a new audience enabling our tourism product to be promoted to a wider market.
Such events will generate income for our local businesses through significant spending, particularly in the service and retail sector through the provision of accommodation and food retail outlets. I understand that the Enniskillen Road Race will be the only event of its kind in the west.
Enniskillen is the ideal location as it is effectively the gateway to the North, South, East and West and I look forward to welcoming the many visitors who I am confident will find their way to our district for the event in the last weekend in June.”
The ultra hard working event organisers, Enniskillen and District Motorcycle Club who once again must be congratulated for their endeavours at successfully reviving roads competition at Enniskillen, added their thoughts on the councils backing of the meeting:
“We are delighted to welcome Fermanagh and Omagh District Council as our title sponsor for the Enniskillen Road Races.
We look forward to working together to showcase the county and bring back a ‘no frills, just pure road racing’ event to the area.
Riders from all over Ireland north and south will compete at the event with riders from as far as Germany and England and we are hopeful to put on a show as never seen in this area before.
We are proud to bring motorcycle racing back to the area and with visitors already coming from as far as South Africa and Australia we hope we can encourage locals from the area to come and support this event.”
