Bradford’s Dean Harrison took his tally of race successes at Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough to almost the 80 wins mark, after dominant race wins in today’s Classic Superbike encounters at the Barry Sheene Classic.
Behind Turnbull Yamaha mounted Dave Bell, for the opening laps of this morning’s Classic Superbike encounter, Silicone Engineering Racing’s Harrison found an extra gear of pace on the third lap, moving over 2.5 seconds clear.
Harrison from here took total control of the eight-lap race, eventually finishing victorious by plus 21 seconds.
Ashcourt Racing’s Lee Johnston finished race runner-up, after early pace setter Bell experienced technical problems with his Yamaha steed.
With Bell forced out of contention, this allowed the versatile Pete Boast to round out the top three finishers.
The second Classic Superbike race from today’s competition at Scarborough, saw Senior TT winner Harrison once again in a league of his own.
This time never headed, he produced another truly world class display on the Silicone Engineering Racing ZXR 750 Kawasaki, taking the race spoils by 18.520 seconds, along the way lapping under the 1 minute 51 seconds barrier.
Harrison’s Oliver’s Mount race wins tally now stands at 78, just 20 shy of the amount of ‘Mini TT’ successes amassed by fellow multi TT winner Chris Palmer.
You couldn’t but not be pleased for 2nd place finisher, reigning Barry Sheene Trophy champion Dave Bell, who after bad luck a plenty this weekend, finally finished one of the Classic Superbike encounters, finishing second in front of eight times International Road Race winner Johnston.
