Aberdare Park Road Races Preview

Over the years there’s been many classic races at Aberdare park road races and this years event looks set to produce two days of exciting closely fought race action.

Reigning Welsh open champion Dan Cooper is back to try and retain the blue riband race at Aberdare park. Dan recently had a highly productive Isle of Man TT securing highly creditable results including a personal best 8th place finish in lightweight TT when competing on CMS racing ER6 Kawasaki.

Tom Weeden following excellent results at cock of the north road races is going to Aberdare park confident that he can be near the sharp end in all races, 675 Daytona Triumph mounted Tom recorded top five finish in Welsh open race back in 2012.

Regular competitor at Aberdare park Justin Collins is looking forward to competing once again at the tight and twisty road race circuit, Justin is all set to compete at this years Manx Grand Prix as he bids to continue his good progress around the mountain course.

Matthew Rees is making his Manx Grand Prix debut soon and will start as a dark horse for victory in supersport 600 and Welsh open races when competing on GT superbikes backed ZX6 Kawasaki.

Aberdare park specialist Jay Bellers Smith looks set to be in contention for race victories at the weekend as is David Hewson. Nicknamed wavey Davey the rider who had a consistent TT 2014 is R6 Yamaha mounted for supersport and Welsh open races.

Daley Mathison is having a good season of racing which has included so far four top three finishes at Barry Sheene road race festival, succession of excellent results at cock of the north road races and a successful first time competing at the Isle of Man TT which saw Daley lap at over 121 mph.

Daley could well spring a surprise or two at Aberdare park when competing on Hol Taj/team classic Suzuki supersport bike. Seasoned competitor Paul Owen has a variety of different machinery competing on team 98 R6 Yamaha and also on a RS250 Honda.

Aberdare park road races in recent years have seen John Simpson 2012 senior Manx Grand Prix victorious in Welsh open in 2012 whilst Dan Cooper was race winner last year, could we see a third different Welsh open winner for the third successive year? we will all know at the weekend.
