Road racing, hill-climb racing aficionados in abundance turned out for yesterday’s Landshaag Hill Climb heat races, graced by sunny weather after Sunday morning practice was held in patchy, changeable conditions.
Superbike class winner, 2024 IRRC Horice experienced, Austrian home hero Thomas Altenhuber took his second overall title crown at Landshaag, following a previous triumph in 2024.
He set his fastest time of the day (1.11.339) within round two of heats (1.12.197 in round one), combined event time (2.23.536) covering both time-trial race bouts, gave him a winning advantage of just past half a second over fellow Austrian Markus Mitterbauer with IRRC SBK-Chimay Open Trophy, Manx Grand Prix experienced racer, Salvatore ‘Salvo’ Sallustro nigh on one second adrift of Mitterbauer in third.
Overall P4, Superstock 1000 class leader was Sallustro’s fellow Italian, Gabriele Peticca.

Landshaag 600cc category record time-holder (1.12.897 from 2025) Alexander Kastenhuber headed the Supersport field, finished a very creditable P8 in overall classification.
Prospective 2026 Manx Grand Prix competitors, Mountain Course newcomers Thomas ‘Uccio’ Altendorfer (P4 x2 in Superstock 1000, Special Bikes classes) and German speedster Moritz Klaus (P4 in Supersport) clinched top five category results.
Outright Landshaag lap-record holder (set last year – 1.08.795), Germany’s top TT pilot David ‘Datziii’ Datzer who knows how to entertain the spectators, fulfilled his showman reputation aboard a ‘Superhooligan’ BMW, winning the Naked Bikes class, placing ninth within the Special Bikes leaderboard.
The prize from organisers for the fastest female racer accolade, went to the Czech Republic’s Kristyna ‘Kiki’ Jakesch (PB time 1.27.340, P15 – Special Bikes / P3 – Supersport 300). She is a potential Cemetery Circuit Races debutant at the end of this season.
If your keen to experience the thrills of time trial action in Austria, check out the Julbach hill-climb, coming up in June (13th-14th).
