13 times TT winner Michael Dunlop continued his sparkling 2016 roads form, in the open race at the Walderstown Road Races.
Piloting his own teams S1000RR BMW, Michael secured race victory having held off a determined challenge from Irish road race superbike championship leader Derek Sheils.
Derek’s second place finish, increases his championship lead, whilst Derek McGee, Noel Williamson Racing S1000RR BMW, finalised the top three finishers.
William Dunlop was next up on his own teams YZF R1M Yamaha, whilst Michael Sweeney a highly creditable fifth on the Martin Jones Racing ZX10R Kawasaki, also impressed.
Despite challenging conditions around Walderstown, the seven lap open race, saw top quality pure road racing action as Michael Dunlop kept up his record of winning at least one race at every roads meeting, which he has competed at to date throughout this year.
Will he emerge victorious in the grand final race, later on today? there’s no doubt that he will start favourite, as he aims for his third grand final success at Walderstown.
