Vauxhall International North West 200 – Superbike Practice Wrap Up

Warm and sunny conditions greeted competitors, for the opening superbike practice session, at the Vauxhall International North West 200.

At the end of the session, Michael Dunlop went to the top of the time sheets on the Hawk Racing S1000RR BMW, to finish half a second quicker, than long time pace setter Alastair Seeley, Lee Hardy Racing S1000RR BMW, following lap speed of 121.652 mph.

Tyco BMW’s Ian Hutchinson, was third fastest, to make it a BMW Motorrad 1-2-3 in qualifying, a clear indication that the S1000RR BMW, could well prove the dominant machine this year around the Triangle.

John McGuinness, lead the non BMW challenge in fourth, on the Honda Racing superbike, John was one of only four riders to lap in excess of 120 mph.

12 times North West 200 winner Michael Rutter was fifth quickest, as he showed highly accomplished form on Bathams SMT Racing S1000RR BMW.

2013 lightweight TT winner James Hillier, Quattro Plant Muc Off Kawasaki, completed the top six.

Peter Hickman tipped by many for victories this week at the Giant Causeway based meeting, finished seventh quickest.

Conor Cummins was eighth fastest as Bruce Anstey and Gary Johnson, finalised the top ten during a close fought superbike practice session.
