Ballymoney’s Darryl Tweed is the new and for now, final IRRC Superbike Champion.
The Never Be Clever Racing rider, Northern Ireland’s first IRRC Champion, clinched in top draw conditions at Frohburger Dreieck, the coveted crown via an eighth-place finish, fourth in terms of full-time IRRC exponents, from the opening SBK race exploration.
Nearest title challenger Laurent Hoffmann (Hoffmann by MRP – BMW) gave it everything and more in pursuit of IRRC title no.3, finishing P3 behind event wildcard, top non BMW jockey Freddie Heinrich and dominant P1 attainer Erno Kostamo (RVS Motorsport – BMW).
Taking P4 was Michal Prasek whilst P5 went to Gary Johnson, having a one-off ride on Team Grams BMW apparatus.
Virgil Amber Bloemhard, Nico Muller occupied sixth, seventh place finishes with already prominently spotlighted, IRRC history maker Tweed, Jan Buchel, Tomas Toth completing the top ten finishers.
TT Races regular David Brook placed twelfth whilst 2024 IRRC SBK Champion David Datzer finished down in nineteenth.
