TT 2024: Hodson Makes Paton Switch For Super Twin Contests

TT 2024: Hodson Makes Paton Switch For Super Twin Contests

Rob Hodson’s TT 2024 exploration in addition to CBR 1000RR-R Fireblade, Vehicle Recovery Services backed YZF R6 Yamaha vaults, will see him switch to a S1-R Paton for the Metzeler, Entire Cover Super Twin races.

This prospect has been made possible thanks to the ‘130 Mph Club’ member’s, title sponsors, former Macau Grand Prix Champions SMT Racing.

Victorious in all but one of the last six Twins TT encounters, the Paton is guaranteed to give twice Manx Grand Prix winner Hodson, an above average chance of contending for elite level finishes.

Hodson’s first roads outing aboard the distinctive sounding Italian steed, arises next week at the Oliver’s Mount hosted Bob Smith Spring Cup.

Looking ahead to TT 2024, the Wigan rider recently stated his delight at remaining in Robin Croft’s SMT Racing fold:

“It’s good to continue with a similar set up to last year and I’m delighted to be continuing with Robin and the whole team.

It was a bit hectic getting it all together, but everyone settled in well and I think we all did a good job at the TT with some strong performances in all the classes.

I got my best results and set personal best lap speeds in every class, and you can’t ask for much more than that so the aim for 2024 will be to improve again.”

He continued:

“As you get quicker, the gains obviously become that bit smaller but if I can improve a bit here and there, I’m confident we can make another step forward on all three bikes.

Being a seeded rider in every class will be a big help and I’m looking forward to getting out on track with the quick lads in each qualifying session.

That should bring me on further so we’re all excited for TT2024.”

Robin Croft added:

“We’ve made small improvements to both the 1000cc and 600cc machines and got a good deal with the Paton, so we’ll be giving it a good go in all classes once more.

Rob fits the SMT Racing bill and we fit his so if we can sneak a podium in the Supertwin class and finish top eight in the others we’ll be more than happy.”
