Spring Cup Preview Series – Part 4 – Lightweight Races

Class honours times four are up for grabs in next weekend’s six-lap Road Racing News, Lightweight races at the Bob Smith Spring Cup.

Since joining the Scarborough racing itinerary last year, the CB 500 Honda category, has rapidly gained praise and some from hardened pure road racing super fans.

Nine racers have put entries in for the fourth instalment of CB500 action at Scarborough, including:

2023 Oliver’s Mount CB 500 Champion Grant Whitaker, Don Gilbert (IOM Bike Storage), Liam McPherson.

Bailey Harker (Harker Racing), Richard Hughes (GWH Fabrications Ltd), Martin Robbins and newcomer Scott Aitkin (Kevin Liddle Motorsport).

Looking towards 125, 250 two-stroke, 400cc 4-stroke participants, entry numbers are in double figures.

Notable entrants include, to name but a few:

Sidecar TT hero, Manx GP winner Dan Sayle (Falcon Electrical Yamaha), William Grant (Arosa Camping & Caravan Park – Ninja 400 Kawasaki), Ian Stanford, Andy Jackson (Moto CJ Racing).

Tony Flinton (RS 125 Honda), Oliver Dean (OC Graphics), Lissy Whitmore, Tim Walsh (Peak Racing 27 Honda), debutant Thomas Bradshaw (Garrard & Jones Mining).

Always carrying a great following, 125/Moto 3, 250, 400 machines are perennial favourites of various long-term Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough supporters.

Supporters old and new of race action at England’s sole active real roads course will no question be treated next weekend to more intriguing competition.
