Triple TT winner Dean Harrison is set for pastures new in 2024, following today’s announcement that he won’t be part next year of the DAO Racing Kawasaki set-up.
Since 2016, Harrison’s 1000cc road race machines have been provided by DAO Racing and Silicone Engineering Racing, whom his current suitors were known as before the squads’ new look in 2022.
Over the past eight years with Clarissa Beadman’s team, Harrison has scooped various notable feats, including:
Three successive Southern 100 Solo Championship wins (2017-2019), Steve Henshaw Gold Cup success in 2016, Ulster GP victories, back-to-back Superbike Classic TT wins (2017-2018).
Bob Smith Spring Cup wins in 2017 and 2021, Cock O’The North wins in 2016 and 2017.
Not forgetting Supersport, Senior TT successes, setting a new Superbike TT lap record in 2018 and overall, 23 TT podium finishes.
Senior TT runner-up for the third time last month, it was clear from the outside looking in, the pace deficit the Bradford ace faced in comparison to the speed illustrated by front running BMW’s, Honda’s.
Sometimes it is the right decision to move on from a team and for various racing insiders, this is a spot-on decision by the 107 times Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough race winner.
In terms of what’s next for the fast-talking Yorkshireman, paddock rumours indicate that Honda Racing could be an option.
For now, though, it’s a case of wait and see, silly season already started!
