Wilson Craig Racing will expand to a three rider line-up for their maiden Aberdare Park Road Races tenure, as York’s Joe Thompson joins team regulars Davey Todd and Chris Burns.
Amongst the top five fastest ever exponents at Wales only pure road race, BSB pilot Thompson who returned last week to Irish roads competition, is ultra enthused about an opportunity which he hopes will allow him to take this weekend feature Welsh Open honours.
“I just cannot seem to get to the top step in the 600 races at Aberdare but with the chance to ride for the Wilson Craig Honda Team this weekend, fills me full of confidence.
This is a step in the right direction, no doubt about it, and I am thrilled to be part of such a highly successful Team. They are proven winners with great bikes, along with a solid Team, so this package ticks all the boxes for me.”
Speaking about his new high profile team mates the aforementioned Todd, Burns, he stated:
“To have Davey Todd and Chris Burns also in the team this weekend, it really is going to be tough, with both Davey and Chris two very fast riders with an wealth of experience between them both.
I just want to thank Darren Gilpin and all at the Wilson Craig Honda Team for giving me the opportunity this weekend to ride one of their 600’s and I really am excited about it.”
Wilson Craig Racing Team Principal, Darren Gilpin added the following comments:
“Its good to have Joey in the Team for this weekend at Aberdare and I welcome him onboard. He has proven in the past just how good a rider he is and I suppose you could say he is a bit of an Aberdare specialist.
We will be running three riders at the meeting with Davey Todd and Chris Burns taking in the event, so lets hope for some good weather and great racing.”
