Ten Questions Challenge – Nigel Walraven

Four times a Superbike victor in May on the Hengelo based Varsselring course, including winning the IRRC races, next gen Dutch roads exponent Nigel Walraven is the next racer to take part in Road Racing News, worldwide popular ten questions challenge.

One of a select group of racers to have enjoyed roads success this year, with Suzuki’s widely acclaimed GSX-R 1000 model, his answers to the popular series of questions are as follows:

Q1: Favourite National Roads Meeting?

“Hengelo, really nice atmosphere and organised by people who understand what racing is about.”

Q2: Favourite Racing Bike?

“The Suzuki GSX-R 1000 we are competing with now, super easy bike to ride and fast.”

Q3: What’s the best part of competing on the roads?

“Mostly the atmosphere and the riders really respect each other, always willing to help someone out or just have a chat together.”

Q4: TT, North West 200 or Ulster Grand Prix?

“Arie Vos, only raced one season against him but I learned so much from him.”

Q6: Best roads moment thus far?

“Winning all 4 Superbike races this year at Hengelo, alongside taking the circuit record as well from Arie Vos. It was a promise I made him when he retired.”

Q7: Is their one place or country in the world, where you would like to see a roads meeting held?

“Spain would be nice.”

Q8: Who’s your road racing hero?

“Jochem Van Den Hoek, a general good guy who gave his heart for road racing and a truly great character to be around. He is missed.”

Q9: Supersport or Superbike?

“Superbike, no doubt.”

Q10: Pole position or fastest lap?

“They both will help you to get in a good position to win the race and that’s the main goal ultimately, so I really can’t choose.”
