Ten Questions Challenge – Nico Muller

Joining forces this year with friend and fellow rising German roads star David Datzer, within the D&M Road Racing team, Frohburg specialist Nico Muller is the next racer to take part in Road Racing News, ten questions challenge.

One of only 26 riders to score points finishes within last years IRRC (International Road Racing Championship) Superbike series, his answers to the popular series of questions are as follows:

Q1: Favourite National Roads Meeting?

“Frohburg, because I have achieved my best roads results there so far, plus it’s run by my home biking club and it’s also my home race.”

Q2: Favourite Racing Bike?

“Tough one, I love my BMW S1000RR, but I also love to ride my classic Honda.”

Q3: What’s the best part of competing on the roads?

“Competing on the roads is so special. The whole paddock is one big family and you feel welcome at any track you go to. There’s nothing in the world, that you can compare with road racing.”

Q4: TT, North West 200 or Ulster Grand Prix?

“TT of course. To compete there is the biggest thing a road racer can do and you have to tip your hat, to everybody who is racing on the Mountain Course.”

Q5: Most Respected Rival?

“My most respected rival will be this year, David Datzer. Your team mate is always the first racer you have to beat.”

Q6: Best roads moment thus far?

“Best moment thus far was at the Czech TT, Horice in 2014, finishing third within the Classics race aboard my old 500 Honda.

To clinch a rostrum back then at Horice was very special, because it was only the second roads meeting that at the time, I had participated at.”

Q7: Is their one place or country in the world, where you would like to see a roads meeting held?

“I would love to participate in a real road race at the Oberlausitzer Dreieck. It’s just a demo track at present, but the people who work there are amazing and the track is great.

It’s always great to see people with passion for their work, and you can 100 percent find this there.”

Q8: Who’s your road racing hero?

“When I was growing up, individuals like Heinz Rosner and Frank Wendler always showed it’s possible to gain top results, even with inferior machinery.

Throughout my racing career they have given me loads of tips, so I have to say I have great respect for them, you must not forget the guys that helped at the start of your racing careers.

My all time racing hero though, has always been Jim Redman, and I’m happy to say that I’ve been good friends with him now for over 14 years.”

Q9: Supersport or Superbike?

“Superbike, because it was always my dream to race one.”

Q10: Pole position or fastest lap?

“Fastest lap, because you need to be the fastest in the race to win.”
